Shenton Park Waste Facility Upgrade

WA Plumbing Solutions were contracted by Western Metropolitan Regional Council to upgrade the storm water pollution systems to the Shenton Park waste management facility. The project required WA Plumbing Solutions to allow the facility to remain operational at all times.
The Scope of the work:
WA Plumbing Solutions were contracted by WMRC to install Gross Pollution Traps, Oil and Petrol Separators, a greasy waste catchment zone, sediment tanks and storm water drainage as part of the environmental requirements of the property. WA Plumbing Solutions tendered on and won the contract, we were required to, provide detailed Gantt charts, Quality control plans, work method statements, OH & S management plans prior to commencing works onsite, all employees and sub contractors were then required to undergo on site inductions held by both WMRC and WA Plumbing Solutions.
Ryan Allen was the site supervisor, he liaised with the onsite management to ensure that the installation of the storm water upgrade didn’t impact the operation of the waste sorting facility. Ryan ensured that all tradesman that attended the site had a complete understanding of how their work would impact the operation of the facility to enable minimal disruption to the facility. Ryan also over saw the installation of all services as well as the make good of all areas, supply of as constructed documents and manuals.
Project difficulties/ Issues
The complexity of this project was ensuring that our works didn’t impact of the delivery of recyclables to the facility. Shenton Park is the main waste facility for 5 councils and has a constant stream of rubbish trucks that require access each day. WAPS scheduled in the road crossing works to be completed after hours to unsure we didn’t affect the deliveries.
